From time to time I research a blog directory or index to help bloggers invest their time on submitting blogs to fair directories. This had been one cause of the problem. Secondly, we have changed a section of problematic code that detects reciprocal links. The reason is because I didn't wan to link to directories from a PR3 page and get a reciprocal link from a PR0 page.

Anyway, let's review bloghints.com (click on "read more" at the bottom of this post to see their button)

I was surprised to see that it will take them 30 business days to review and approve my blog! Obviously in the meantime they get a one month link to their directory from my blog for free. I also wonder how many people submit their blog and forget to check one month later if their blog was added to bloghints or not... I will check it and update this post in 30 days. This is what they write:
"A reciprocal link is required to your blog's homepage is required. Submissions without a reciprocal link will be rejected.
Reciprocal Blogs will be approved within 30 business days"

Also, it says that my link will be live for 1 year only... after that I'll have to resubmit. You should take that into consideration if you are thinking to submit your blog on bloghints.

UPDATE 1:
it looks like it's going to take me more time than what I thought... there is an error message on bloghints and I can't submit my blog... here is the message I get:
Warning: Smarty error: validate: validator id 'v_LINK_TYPE' is not registered. in /home/bloghint/public_html/libs/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

I will write them and notify them of the mistake... we'll see what they say.

Recommendation: Good

this is what bloghints will ask you to put on your blog once you submit to their directory:
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03251960731773642269noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33044753.post-2501902462839865812010-08-01T23:33:00.000-07:002010-08-02T01:08:44.320-07:00Give reciprocal links from a PR 0 pageI found a new feature in blogger (jump break in HTML)that will enable me to continue reviewing blog directories without linking to them from my blog's homepage, which has a higher page rank.

This creates a "read more" link that directs to another page (with lower PR than the homepage).
Let's see if it works, I will add "more" as described on the image above.

And here I will add the links :)Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03251960731773642269noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33044753.post-41795797488551565732010-07-26T00:32:00.000-07:002010-07-26T01:32:20.547-07:00Google PR updatesThis is just an update that the next google PR update should happen very soon.Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03251960731773642269noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33044753.post-10627862439933489572009-10-26T14:56:00.000-07:002009-10-26T15:12:43.492-07:00Is it worth to continue submitting your blog to indexes?
Should you continue submitting your blog to indexes?

Is it worth to continue submitting your blog to indexes or directories? Once a blog achieves a certain PR (for example PR3 like this blog), that a question worth asking.

On the one hand, you want inbound links in order to increase your blogs ranking in the "eyes" of google. On the other hand, most of these blog directories or blog indexes, request that you link back to them in exchange for submitting. This can be tricky, especially if your posts appear on the homepage like on this blogspot blog.

You may end up linking to them from a PR3 webpage while they link back to your blog from a PR0 webpage. So, probably the best next steps to to try to improve your google PR without buying links, are:

1. Find blog directories that will link to you from PR3 or more webpages. That way you won't end up exchanging links with a low PR indexes.

2. Get inbound links without having to link back. This can be done by posting comments on high PR pages.

3. Be active in forums.

4. Post blogs on RSS feeds.

Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03251960731773642269noreply@blogger.com34tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33044753.post-45157092817119057922009-02-21T13:18:00.000-08:002009-02-21T13:36:50.123-08:00seniority.co.uk (not recommended)Hello! A long period since my last post, and I thought I'd share a fact I just found out.

I co-own a gaming website since 2004. Back then, we added a "link exchange" page for the purpose of increasing our page rank by linking to related websites /indexes and receiving in return a link back.

5 years later (it was about time) I decided to start checking who is still linking back to us. Below is my first finding:
A UK based directory named seniority.co.uk removed our link. I tried to find out a way to contact the site owner and guess what, nothing under "contact us" actually leads to a way to contact them. By the way, their google page rank is 5... who know how many other sites were cheated by them.

Recommendation: Not recommended
Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03251960731773642269noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33044753.post-9825458915652710802008-07-04T05:56:00.001-07:002009-10-03T14:04:19.201-07:00My new blogThis post was removed as I didn't get the chance to update that blog. there should be new stuff coming up sometime soon...Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03251960731773642269noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33044753.post-60249247269987380872008-02-15T12:58:00.000-08:002010-07-26T00:06:50.949-07:00topblogarea.comQUOTE: This is the little tracker code you need, you need to place it on your blog or else our tracking system wont be able to count your visitors and rank your blog.
